My girlfriend and I were at her grandma's farm last weekend walking around, first time I'd ever been out there. When we pulled up I instantly saw a 190 XT diesel and a 7045 sitting in the yard, but around behind a silo there was a D17 gasser sitting by itself in the weeds. I haven't been around much AC equipment but seeing that tractor sitting back there made me want to get it running again. I believe it's a series 3 or 4, has the snap couplers, wide front, and a trip bucket loader sitting on it. So what can you all tell me about this tractor? how is it on fuel, how big of a plow and disk can it pull? Is it worth getting it runing again? How bout overall impressions of this tractor?

Look for the serial # in the usual location, on the flange of the bell housing, transmission side. On the left side of the tractor, as you face forward in the operators seat. A little ahead of, and just under the fuel sediment bowl, where the motor meets the transmission housing.

That would be a very handy tractor if it could be resurrected. It pulled a 4-14 mounted or 5-14 semi-mounted plow. A 12-14' disk. It has a 20 gallon fuel tank which will last 6 hours working hard. Series 3 & 4 has oval muffler and lights on the fender. Series 4 has hydraulic pump mounted on the right side of the torque tube and brings more at auction than a 170.
