how hard is it to install a temp guage on allis b 1950s model? Mine is broken and i have found some on the internet. It has been broken ever since i owned tractor(10years). I didn't want to get in to any thing where i could break the old one and coolant is going everywhere. Thanks

Most of the time there easy to remove and install. I have never had any problems on any of my Allis tractors. Shoot you don't even need to remove the hood to change it

It usually isn't hard to remove. Occasionally, it can be so tight that you could break the water neck getting it off. I'd suggest using a hacksaw to cut off the big part of the gauge. Make sure you retain the hex potion for the wrench. Then put a 6 point socket on that hex and try it. If it doesn't come out easily, soak it for a few days with a penetrant like mystic or WD-40. Then try to tap the wrench with a hammer first in the loosen direction and then in the tighten direction. If it doesn't come, a few more applications of penetrant are in order.

Don't worry too much. Those water necks are available on Ebay most of the time. You would need to remove some anti-freeze to remove the neck and maybe a little even to remove the gauge.
