D17 plow

Just acquired a gas D17 and getting familiar with it. When looking for a plow, would it be best to a)acquire a 3-pt hitch version, or b) try and find an original snap hitch version, and if so, how common are they?

I have a decent one with what is called a long reach bar on top. Want $250 for it here in central MN.

Cliff, if your tractor doesn't have the factory 3 point (D17 series IV), I would suggest you find a snap coupler three-bottom adjustable frame. This allows you to set it at 14, 16 or 18 inches, depending upon your soil conditions. We sold one last summer for $350 and it was in excellent condition and even had a depth wheel. In my opinion, there is no performance differences between the 3 point or snap coupler. The 3 point plow on our D17IV works just like the snap coupler plows we had on the WD-45's. If you add an after market three point hitch I'm not sure if the traction booster will operate. Tom
