D15 general question and hello

Hi, I am usually on the Ferguson forum but am helping a friend get his AC running. Its a D15 I dont have the serial number as of yet but will run back to his house and get it tomorrow. We have a service manual on order but I thought I could do some things to get it ready. I have a few questions, even though I have searched here and found the answers I just want to double check. Were these machines 12V positive ground? Does anyone have a good way to clean the gum/varnish from a fuel tank? The tank was full and did not show signs of rust but the machine has sat in a garage for about 10 years and the bottom of the tank is nasty, and finally does anyone have a wiring diagram for this machine? There are more than a few wires that are just hanging, it would be nice to know what they were for. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes positive ground. All Allis equipment used positive groung untill Allis started using alternator instead of generators. Take the fuel tank to a radiator shop and have it boiled out. I do not know what plugs. If it uses 14mm 3/4 inch reach plugs like the G-262 power unit on my Gleaner, a Champion N-12YC, N-14YC would be close gapped at .030 inches.

Oh one last thing what spark plugs does this use and what is the gap?
