I need help adjusting the zenith Carb on my allis B.
I took it apart and adjust the float and cleaned it out.
What is a good rule of thumb for the main jet setting and for the idle air jet.
once the tractor is runnig any tips on how to adjust the 2 jets?
Chad

I give them both 2 1/2 turns to start with. You will need to set the idle before you worry about the power jet. You work back and forth between the throttle stop behind the carburetor and idle mixture adjustment to get the lowest rpm the engine will run. The power jet and idle mixture do not have a bunch to do with each other. You can run the engine wide open and screw the idle mixture needle out and put it in you pocket and will not see any difference. I set the power jet with the throttle wide open and adjust until it rums at the fastest rpm. You cant really set the power jet to the best setting unless the tractor is under load. If you are not in a HP contest it will be close enough for any puttering you would be doing.

Speaking of old Zenith carbs, I have three that have the same problem, the shaft that the butter fly is mounted on has a lot of play, sucking in lots of air and the power jet is so loose that they will not stay put. Is there a larger shaft that could be fitted to these carbs and is there a sourse of new jets out there somewhere. These carbs are for "36-"37 WCs Thanks, Harry

Most carbs the starting point on the idle jet is around 1 turn out from bottom and the main jet about 1-1/2 turn out. Then with it warmed up you adjust the main jet till you get black smoke then turn it back in till the smoke stops and you have good power. That said all the carbs I have worked on for the B/C didn't have a main jet adjustment so your lucky that yours does wish my C did
