Hi all, just picked up a couple d-17 propane tractors and am thinking of converting back to gas. i know i will need a new tank, and hood, but do i have to change anything else, like dash or something? am also thinking i will have to change intake but not sure on that, and will have to find carb.

lp dangerous brother dead from explosion engine valves and guides will only last 2000 hours and they are history and the top rings are next I convert every thing i buy back to gasoline much better and much safer speaking from experiece baldwin here

Allis-Chalmers LP engine have a higher compression ratio than gasoline fueled engines. If you make the change you MAY have spark knock and dieseling problems. I am doing the oppsite of you. I am trying to convert as many of my gasoline fueled engine to LP as I can. For the last 10 years I have owned and run a 67 C-II Gleaner that ia LP equipped from the factory. I love it. This machine can set for ANY length of time and to start it all you need is a Hot Battery. Turn on the vapor line, crank it up, no coughing or spitting. Let it run until the temp gauge show some heat in the engine, turn on the liquid valve and turn off the vapor valve and off go to cutting Fescue. Yes you CAN NOT fuel this combind with a 5 gallon rusty bucket BUT I will trade a little harder fueling for no varnish in the carb any day of the month in any year or century. Dad has 2 gasoline fueled C-II and it is always a pain getting them to run after setting for sometime even with fuel stabiliser in the fuel. If you have an LP tank you can get a hose and fittings to fuel the tractors from your tank. It is slow without a pump but it can be done. Luckaly I bought a bad pump and was able to repair it. The same pump is used for transfering anhydrous ammonia fertilizer. Talk to your LP supplier. If they sound vague they have not dealt with Motor Fuel LP. You might asks you state University Ag Power Dept about LP Motor fuel. Kansas U is where some of the original work was done on LP Motor fuel. This all said if you still convert to gasoline I would be interested in the Carbs and Vaporizers and Fuel Filters.
