engine swap d17 into wd tractor

I'am installing a d17 z type motor into a wd. I would like to know if anyone knows what will have to be changed to make this possible? Looks like the front pulleys and waterpump will need to change or move radiator forward. Also the governor has no hookup for the throtle because the motor came out of a combine. Any help would be great. Thanks Paul

We were able to get the d17 into the wd, changed water pump front pulley and wd clutch and flywheel, also wd governor and carb. works great! Thanks for all the help. Paul

If the "D17" engine came from a combine, it would be from a Model E Gleaner, so the governor and fuel pump would be issues, also some others. Check archives for that conversion. Yes, it fits, but there are some issues.

Not sure on the fit stuff, but you'll want the gov out of a D17 tractor or the WD and not the combine gov. The combines are goverened at wide open throttle only. So, at half throttle it'll fall on it's nose under just about any load.

Thanks for the reply. Will the wd gov. fit on the d17 it has a z on the last of the ss# which is a 170 if I understand corectly. Can I change just the front small part 4 bolts or will I need to switch whole front of motor? Paul
