Ok, so I was out all day on the old straight-piped 190 dragging hay circles and I know that the motor is putting out more than 100 horses. I haven"t touched it, but we bought it so long ago that I don"t know if the original owner tuned it up. Anyway I was just wondering what to look for? - Roosa injector pump, anything else? That thing smokes like a beast in 7th gear pulling a tire-drag and thunders!!!

190's all had Roosa Master injection pumps. If it pops out of gear and/or the rear end whines to an extent that you can't hear yourself think then it is likely that the tractor has been turned up. Many came from the factory turned up around 120 horse. It is typical for Allis Chalmers' to smoke a lot. If it seems excessive, check your air filter. If it is clean, the turbo and injection system might be wanting some attention. I would gear down in your case, as if it has been turned up and you are running it in high gear it's pretty hard on the transmission. 5 and 6 are the ideal working gears.

You might think about using a working gear instead of the low road gear. If it smokes, it is under a heavy load.
