Should I be able to run a 7 foot brush hog off my newly acquired (gas) D17? Thanks CPC

A D17 would have enough power for a 7' , but a 7' may be a little to heavy for it when you lift it off the ground, may make it pretty light on the front end. Depends on what type 7' footer you use.

A D17 is avery powerful tractor for its size. I am certain that based on my experience ,that it would easily handle a 7' "hog" in any situation where it would be safe to use one. Just be ready with the gas can; those D17 gassers like the gas.

You should be fine with that size brush hog. Of course there is a lot of difference in cutting a years worth of pasture weeds and some patch that has grown up for years in brush, saplings and junk. For that you might have to slow way down or even only take half a swath or so at times.

I would think it would handle an 8 footer well. Its around a 52HP tractor and I run a 6 foot on a 30 HP tractor all the time
