Hi, I hope some one can tell me what is wrong. I replaced the starter solenoid on my 7040. When I press the starter button the starter continues to turn (recieve power) after I let the button go. I had to race around and disconnect the battery to get it to stop. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you.

Old timer is right on with his trubleshooting technique but if it is stuck on you could have a couple problems like a bad starter button or gotten a bad solenoid especially if it is a rebuilt one that happen to me once bout got ran over took it back to TSC kid at the counter thought it was funny he didn't think so after I left, put another one on and it was fine not sure what was wrong but I assume they forgot or didn't replace the return spring in the solenoid.

one quick test disconnect cable from
starter, insulate it then try to turn the engine over,(don't start laughing
yet).listen to hear if the solenoid
clicks when you press the start button
and it should click when you release it.if not you MIGHT have the starter
cables crossed.lots of luck Bob in ohio

God Bless
