"VERY PRICEY baler! If you can afford one of those, you can afford a tractor that has the hydraulics to run it and that won't run over the hay. Sure you can put a wide front on a WD, but unless you mount a front crank mounted hydraulic pump, you will have a very very slow baler even when you rework the WD for 2 way hydraulics. If you are going to bale with a WD, get a used AC rotobaler or an old square baler. You can rebuild them from top to bottom and not come even close to having the money you`d have in one of those Starr balers." Laugh. Well, I don't know if I can afford it or not. You could say, if I buy that expensive baler, no wonder I use an old WD. I must be missing something, there is NO hydraulic lines, as I understand it. The baler door is opened by a compression, on machine hydraulic cylinder (or maybe there are two). All the operator does is trip a switch. I have a small baler & the WD handles it fine. My problem is that I am getting up there in years and don't know how much longer I will be able to strong arm small bales. I've been reworking my operation to convert to large bales, so that the skid steer can do the manual work. In fact, I am re-working my entire farm, for the day when I have to slow down. I never want to quit farming. This makes a 500 lb bale, mid way between a small bale and a regular large baler. Just right for me... scales nicely with my other equipment and facilities. Is this really more than a new large round baler would cost? thanks, flinny
