MS TX464 Carb Question

I have a MS TX464 carb on my WD45. During the rebuild process I noticed I was missing the "trap door" on the choke butterfly. The rebuild DVD that I was watching called it a trap door. It looks like a spring loaded button attached to the middle of the butterfly. This doesn"t come in the rebuild kit.

I"m guessing that this missing part is probably what is contributing to my loss of power whenever I put any load at all on the tractor.

I haven"t been able to find just the trap door. Any suggestions out there on where I can find a replacement?

Termanology is always different, but if I understand correctly your issue is of no concern on full power. This is like a little disk, with a ink pen spring on it? This is for when you choke it, and the engine starts--and you do not get the choke in fast enough the vacume will pull the little disk open so your engine does not flood. You have to buy the whole butterfly with the trap door. Maybe someone else can help more than me. If you can jolly rig it closed and put the choke in real fast you do not need this. They get a little costly.

Good news and bad news. If you aren't having difficulty starting your WD-45, the trap door really isn't necessary. It was there to prevent over-choking when starting the engine. Without it, you won't be able to get a full choke which might be necessary for starting in cold weather.

Now the bad news. If your engine is losing power, it isn't because the trap door is there or not there. Give the carb a good cleaning during the rebuild and make certain the power circuit is free and fully open. It runs down the tube sticking out in the throat of the carb to the carb bowl. The power jet is in this circuit. And also be certain that the float is set correctly and that there is no restriction on fuel flow from the tank.
