Does anybody know what the compression should be on a model "C" Allis Chalmers engine. I have one cylinder at 91psi,and the other three all about 96 psi. Is this within range

That is a reasonable difference in compression. However such a compression test really tells you nothing about what the problem might be. I never bother with any compression test except a differential compression test. Then I know not only the condition of each cylinder but also where any compression loss is going. And you can do it on an engine that isn't yet running.

Should work good with those numbers. If it doesn't, it isn't because of compression.

Well thats with in the 10% range. Or in other words thats not all that bad since its not a high compression engine
