Hi, have a c crankshaft with a sheared key on the crankshaft pulley, and cant get it out. any ideas or suggestions? nothing to get ahold of, and no way to get under it. also, can i put a different governor in and not have chatter or problems from the different gears that arent matched? thanks for any help

First off do you have the pulley off?? Then do you have the front end off so you can get in there and work on it?? If you say yes to both then an easy way to get that old key out is to use a punch on one end and drive it down, when you do that the other end will pop up so you can then get under it. Best if you can do it on the back part of it so the front comes up unless its out of the engine then it doesn't matter. As far as the gov. I have switch them before on other engines and never had problems with them not working as they should but maybe I've been lucky

Thanks old, i tried it, i have the crank out of the tractor, motor on a stand. i cant even see where the outline of the key is, but know because of where it scored the area when it sheared. i have another crank, would have to have it turned and put in all new bearings.... but still would have a different gear on it that wouldnt match the cam. can i do that? im leary of timing gears... but you have done a number of these and i trust your input. thanks!!!
