Can any AC lovers out there give me some basic info on the D15, such as when built, motor size, ballpark value? I own a WD45 and am more familiar with the older tractors. Was it in the same era as the D14, D17 etc. Thanks for your help.

As you may have already noticed, your WD45 has a 226 cubic inch engine, while the D-15 has either a 149 or a 160 cubic inch gas engine (175 for diesel). The Power Director helps by giving you more gearing than the WD45 has, but at best it just barely equal to the power of a WD45. They are very nice tractors, just don't think you are going to get more power that your WD45 gives you. They were made for 1960 thru 1968.

The D15 was a follow on to the D14 with the same 149 c.i. engine. Along about 1962 the Series II D15 came out with a peppier engine. 158 c.i. as I recall. Sorry, I'm away from my books right now. The Series II, reportedly, had significantly more punch than the original. We never had either as they just weren't big enough for our operation. I've seen many posts about the "jumping out of gear" problem these little tractors had. Probably caused by people trying to get a little too much out of them.

D-15 series 1 (Round muffler) replaced D-14. 149 cu in for 14,15(I) series II (oval muffler) is 160 cu in. Hp went from 33-40 or better. Early 15's and 14's go for around $2500-3000 around here(MD). 15II's can go up to $4000 at auction around here. Be sure to check and see if it hops out of 3rd gear just after you crest the top of a hill. That is the most common problem.

The problem with the series 2 is the cost of motor parts, like a rebuilt rod for the 149 motor cost like 75 dollars and the one for the 160 cost 275 dollars (parts are hard to find for the 160)

I just purchased a rod for $150 for the 160 engine . However I got about 1800.00 in a total rebuild. I put a new oil pump and a new governer in it, that what drove the price up. I put a valve train kit, new sleeves and pistons, rings, main and rod bearing, to include cam shaft bearings a new throw out bearing, clutch and pressure plate. . also had to have the crank welded and reground.
