I have an old AC D17 (gas) that I'm interested in selling. The PTO won't engage as it looks like the pin that the handle attaches to is sheared. Runs great otherwise. I have no idea what year model this is and I can't even find a serial number plate on the machine. Can anyone tell me where the ID plate 'should' be? What are the price ranges to expect for one of these in good running order. It could use new rear rubber.

The location of the serial number is indicated by the white tape in the picture.

i just found the link to serial numbers/year models. Answered my own question. It's a 1959 model. Thanks to all. Now to market....

Serial number is stamped into the upper left front portion of the torque tube- where the engine bolts to the tube. Begins with D17. Stamped number ON the engine is the engine number, not tractor serial number.

Round muffler. The 3point or snap question I"ll have to ask for some advice before I answer. There is no top arm that I usually see for the 3rd point. There are the two side "pin" arms extending out the back. There is a snap coupler on back that I assume if for hydraulic hose connection. I did find the serial number though. It"s "D17 20997".

1959 would have the Snap-Coupler hitch from the factory. Two lift arms on the rear, and the Snap-Coupler is the bell-shaped housing under the middle of the tractor where the drawbar pulls from. Release lever is alongside of the transmission housing. Operator manual will explain all this stuff.

there isn't a "plate". the tractor # is in the area of the air filter. i think it would start with d17. where are you located? Bob
