You did not say what year your tractor is, 1956 is the first year for factory power steering! I have a 1954 with charlyn unit. Has been restored to better than new condition and is for sale.

my friend is going to look for serial number. the power steering was installed at the factory. the resevoir cap comes through the hood just like the radiator cap. this is not an aftermarket add on.

i dont think they are rare, just expensive. i bought one and need to get a diagram to put it on my wd. when ever someone sells you something for an old tractor they usually try to take advantage of peoples ignorance by saying something common is rare . there is also an old trick called "henpenning" they give you a low ball offer they know you will refuse then walk away and turn around and come back with a slightly higher one then if you refuse it, they will try a third time with a more resoanable one. this is when people will think that this"final" offer is the best they can get so they take it. it is usually too low too. they got me once with this, so i love to pass it along. the more you know the less suseptible you will be to this and other shadey practices in the used equipment business. the factory power steerings are not an every day thing but they are not that rare either. they come up fairly frequently on ebay.
