I am fixing some oil leaks on my 262 diesel pulled the timing cover, and the back plate that it attaches to because there is a gasket there as well, pulled the cam gear, it doesn't want to go back on very easy what's the best way to put it back on the end of the cam shaft?

Find an old deep fryer that still works or borrow the wifes we she ain't payin' attention. Use cooking oil, not engine oil, and heat the gear to 350-400 degrees.

Pick it out of the fryer with a channel lock plier or similar tool using heavy welding gloves on both hands. Slip it onto the cam by hand.

Best to have the cooker set up close to the job and make sure the timing marks are lined up, the gear will cool quickly and you won't have a second chance without having to pull it off again and start over.

Don't know where the h & n went, might have forgotten them (wouldn't be the first thing), should have been "when she ain't payin' attention"
