how do, or can you, take the gear and rotor out of a FMJ mag? i see they sell them separately. can't afford to pay for the whole cap. there just to much money. you can buy the whole mag, for what they want for the cap.

You just been pricing parts the wrong place. Have some of the covers NOS and aftermarket. You can just glue the bushing back in if isn't too worn to hold it tight. New bushings and gears are available seperate and always have been.

well i got it apart and it was pretty rusty. but the bushing is loose . it's the pressed in one. so i'm going to clean everything up and get the gear and rotor and just maybe,maybe that backfiring will stop on this old B. yes this is still me (Old) trying to get this B running good. but i think with a lot of light you can see a slight start of a crack and detering rotor material. would have replaced that right off if i had the bucks. but with all the work i put in this baby and rebuilt, should a heck of a tractor. thanx again Gary

In case you are not real up on mags.Another good idea is to always check to see if the cap is chewed up, usualy means a bearing wobbling around

If I remember right the rotor slips righyt out but most of the time if the rotor is bad so is the cap which I know is bad but thats how it is most of the time. You have found the one reason most have been replaced with distubutors
