Soon i am going to get WD. How many pounds of the engine compression? Not ratio. It has 4" bore.
I am going to check piston rings to make sure it ok. This is my first time i work on Allis.
What the price range of wide front end. Does anybody know where i can find wide front? I lives in TN.

Tracy what part of Tn do you call home? I know of a WD wide frt. end at a salvage yard near here I live in eastern part south of Knoxville.

Tracy, A WD that is excellent shape will have about 90 psi. 95 psi is probably tops if it is stock. If it is not stock bore with stock pistons, the compression could get up to 125 psi. If it is stock, 75 psi is plenty good for use and parades. As far as i'm concerned, the big issue is not compression but plug fowling, oil pressure and oil leaks. If plugs fowl repeatedly, it needs an overhaul (at least new rings). If there is no oil pressure, it should have new bearings (the wrong oil filter can cause this problem). Excessive oil leaks mean that you need new seals. I wouldn't open an engine up solely because of compression. Something else has to be the bigger reason. My G Allis for instance just wouldn't start when cold - I couldn't find any compression at all. So I rebuilt it. Now it starts good.
