Auger and the WD

Does the single acting hydraulics on the WD make it more difficult for a post hole auger to operate, or will the weight of the auger propel it downwards without needing additional hydraulic assistance? How about in rocky or frozen ground? Thanks for any input.

These old tractors all can run an auger, they don't take much HP to run. You need to make sure that the auger has point and that the replaceable wear parts are in good shape. If you're interested, I have an A-C pto auger made for a WD tractor (snap coupler). it is the Roper manufactured unit, and its for sale! $250.00 301-261-6069

wont work worth a crap i gots a skid loader with power down and can barely get holes drilled tried on my wd and sits on top unless ground is soft and loose

Well since they work good on ford tractor like the 8N then yep they will work well on a WD. Most tractor don't have power down on the 3 points and the post auger is made so it will suck its self right on down. Yes rocks or frozen ground can be a problem but if you keep at it you will broke through unless the rock is to big.

The auger will be just fine...In general, the three point linkage was not intended to exert down pressure on the implement...Just keep the auger in good shape and give it time to do it's job..

I've used an auger on a WD's one way hydraulics with success. Most of the time its weight sucks it richt down into the ground unless you hit heavy shale or large rock.
