with pump adj. to hold position (I think) it will not hold the bush hog in one position. There are many coats of paint on the "B" screw and is very hard to turn. any first thoughts to look at or try

There has to be a number of settings on the hdy pump to make the hold position on the lift arms or a remote ram work right. On top of the pump is the hold position valve the two plates have to be locked together. The tractson booster linkage has to be with the screw screwed into the housing.This is located on the lower right hand side of the pump.When this is done loosen the rod that goes from the hold position valve down to the pump control, with this loose move your hdy lever on the quandrate till you feel a dentent position,then move the rod you loosened from the hold position till you feel a dentent position,then tightenthe setscrew that holds this rod.Your leakage could also be coming from the transport valve if you haveone. This valve is located below the tractor seat with a knob on it.If this valve is bad and you donot need the delayed lift working take it off.

WD45Tom, every WD and 45 that I have and have had displayed this problem. My current 45 is the best of the lot but still not perfect. I'll be interested in the responses as much as you. I've never torn into one because my info says that the valves are just close fitting spools - no o-rings. New spools might help but the barrel might be the problem. Some time when I get caught up (10 years at current rate), I figured to line bore and build new spools. But that is a ton of work. You might be able to buy a new valve from Allis at a big expense.
