I am looking at a 1938 Allis Chalmers B and have a few questions about how original it is. The seat is a regular stamped steel seat, not the bench kind with a back on it that I have seen on other B models. Is this correct? Also the front axle is bow shaped which is normal from other pictures I have seen, but then it also looks like it has steel rod welded straight across the bottom of the axle. I this normal? Otherwise the tractor looks very good.

From what you're describing with the bar mounted horizontally under the forged wishbone, it sounds like the adjustable wide front that a few B's came with. If that's the case, it's a rare find. Post some pic's and let's have a look.

i agree, neither is original. also you should have hand brakes and no generator or battery or starter. front rims will also look different than most of the B models, how they bolt onto the hub.

The seat is an after market one as far as the axle I don't remember for sure but I think its also something some one add to it
