has anyone ever heard of these "Roto Caps" on the exhaust valves of Alis B. Just got the valves ground in my B and the guy said that i should have these caps on the exhaust valves.thats why they burnt. they don't rotate. any help thanx gary

Most Heavy Duty engines had them, and they do work..!! Not sure about the "B" having them, but I bet you can put them in there..!! I am sure the WD had them...

thanx Ron, you think the caps would be the same as th WD's? And i havn't seen anyone even talk about them or sell them. i think your right though, the more they turn, the better the heat transfer.Gary

I remember my Dad putting them in on a WC overhaul over 50 years ago. Theory was that the valve never stopped in the same place, so wear was spread over the entire surface. Don't remember anything about heat transfer. Seems that transfer would be universal across a surface, while rotating contact- if any spot tried to develop a depression, would soon be transferred around the circle. ie---would not develop into a depression on the valve or surface on the head.

I would pump the "Allis Guy" more, to see which to use... If the valve stem diameter is the same, I would say that they would fit...but, they may require a different spring, as the Rotators are thicker than the plain spring retainers...
