I am looking at a 7040 Allis. Everything looks good on it. I am going to have them start it and let me drive it. Can anyone tell me anything about them and what to look for when we start it up?
Thanks in advance
Jeff

We probably have typing cramp from answering this same question, LOL If you look at some previous forum questions same as 7030 and Blah, Blah you'll find some of the answers to quetions you seek i.e. Torque limiter problems and etc. I sold the later versions i.e. 7045 non intercooled 426ci very strong hydraulically watch the side panel seals to the radiator very important or the radiator will plug and leaks in different areas otherwise a very strong tractor.I guess the Torque Limiter issue and anti freeze in the crankcase are $$$$$ issues. There is a test for TL problems put the tractor in high first hold the brake pedal down and slowly let out on the clutch and if the tractor sits or shudders the torque limiter has a problem that calls for a split job because the engine seal has leaked and gotten on the flywheel and is causing the main clutch plate to slip on the flywheel. The anti freeze in the crankcase could be real devastating problems due to electrolysis. Good Luck, CT

7010-8070 are all the same basic tractor with different engine or cab. none have major cronic problems but i have seen everything go bad on them. the engines are not the strong point but sometimes hold up a long time. they are cheaper for a reason
