We have an old AC 4 row no till corn planter. It has planted about 100 acres of corn each year and is still working ok. The only thing I would like to change is the packer wheels. They also drive the seedplates but don't always pack the soil too well around the seed and that will result in poor germination. The weels are rather flat, are made of steel but have a rubber liner on the outside. Does anyone know if there are different wheels available, that do a better job of packing the soil around the seed, or are there after market add-ons available?
Any info. is appreciated
George

I have a model 600 and mine has wheels like yours except the rubber tires have a 1 in rib in the center that presses the soil down on the seed. Works good.

You might want to post your question in the Tractor and Crop Talk forum. Some of the guys that hang out over there may be able to diagnose a problem other than the packing wheel. Good Luck, Dave
