Found a Woods 306 universal for sale. Has all the manuals, extra parts, pulleys, belts, and etc. for $350. Seems like a good setup for mowing on a 39' B I have. Anyone think the 306 is too large for the B? I have about 1.25 acres to mow and I'll keep up on it so it's not like I'll be mowing hay with it.

I use a 6' on a CA, and will mow decent in 2nd gear.
Might be to much for a B in Tall Grass, but for that Price i think I would just slow down.

I use a 6" landpride three point mower behind my B, it is too heavy pick up without a lot of extra weight on the front of the tractor. But I have plenty of power as long as I don"t let the grass get too high. The overrunning clutch is a great idea as the mower will sometimes take you along when you try to stop.Good luck Mike

The Model C tractors were geared lower in the finals than Bs. In first geat our 38B will almost keep up with our 41 and 42 model Cs in 2nd. There are at least 3 differant final drive ratios listed and I dont know what tractors got what ratio in what year but the C were always slower. What all this means for belly mowers is a C in decent condition will pull a 6" belly in 2nd gear anywhere but a hay field but a B will have to gear down to 1 when you miss a mowing. I have run both with 5 and 6" bellys and the B is a better matched to a 5, C to a 6 but for the priced asked you cant go wrong, a few years ago the L59 5" were $1600 and the 306 6 footers were 1900. If the 6 pulls the B too hard cheat over a bit

Scott,,grab it, you cannot go wrong...The Woods is durable and easy to get parts for...The power that you use is limited to how much the drive belt will hold, so you will never run short of power..

I have one belly mounted on my 45 C. It is a great setup. My C has a narrow front so it turns on a dime. The B is the same as a C except for the wide front. Power is not a problem for my C so you should be good on the B.

from time to time i pull a 72" brush hog with my "c" .... with good results .... just keep in mind that you don't have to use the full width .... i would recommend a p.t.o. over run clutch .... it has proved to be one of the best $50-60 investments i have ever made .... it sure takes a lot of stress off the gear box ..... good luck

It will be ok. May be a little big for tight corners. The B usually is used with a L59 5 foot mower.
