wd 45 starter removal

I need a little advise on removing a starter from a WD 45. It looks to me like you've got to remove the battery box. Any help would be appreciated.

With any electrical disassembly, remove the ground strap first. Disconnect the battery wire on the starter, along with the mechanical connection. There is a setscrew with locknut-(left side?) to remove- then you can wiggle out the starter assembly. Starter nose is only a few inches long- should be able to pull it back that far. Use emory cloth on the mating surfaces to get good ground contact after reassembly.

Recently I replaced the ignition switch to no avail. I then sanded both copper contacts and it still didn't work. I then adjusted the large wedge shaped copper contact by slightly unscrewing it from the starter housing to which it was attached. I didn't know that it was held in place with a nut on the inside of the housing. Unfortunately, the nut dropped inside the housing. I need to retreive the housing and get the starter rebuilt. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help. MORSE
