I am helping my wife restore her late father's G. Can anyone tell me how to check the light switch and the resistor? Will also probably need a wiring digram as the manual we have is prety fague. Any help would be appreciated..... .John

Jon, send me and i-mail and i will forward you a generic 6 volt wire diagram for a 1940s ALLIS. [email protected] basically the light switch is off - on - off as far as the lights are concerned, the resistor is connected to ground on one side. the F wire from the generator is connected to the other side of the resistor. you ground the F wire thru the resistor in the first (light off) switch positions and get a small generator charge. in the second and third positon, the switch grounds the F wire dircetly, not thru the resistor. with full ground, you get full 10 amp charge to quick charge the battery. one switch position with lights off. the second positon is full charge with lights on.
