good morning gentlemen i was wondering if the bolts that hold the axle housings to the main housing on a model c are studs driven in the casting or are they threaded in ? i have my lower 3 point arms mounted to the final drives. works ok but any uneven load with a 3 point disc ect, throws me sideways. yesterday i was moving ice with the blade, hit a hard chunk and popped the mount out of the final drive houing, riuning the threads, it is time to move the mounting point. if i jack the tractor up in the center, can i weld the nuts on the lower bolts,turn them out and replace them with longer ones to accomodate steel plates to build a 3point mount in the center? it would be stronger, pull better, and still let me use my model c plow.

the mounting studs are threaded on both ends. they screw way into the transmission case. maybe an inch.--- for a better pull, mount a 4 x 4 x 1/4 inch thick angle iron bout 4 feet long between the final drive cases. put a 1/4 inch plate on each end and bolt to the final drive case with two 5/8 bolts on each side. come in a foot from each side and weld ears onto the angle iron to mount your 3 point arms with pins thru two ears each side. the top link can be part of the seat frame. you dont need your old drawbar normally. use a straight bar between your 3 point arms as a drawbar that you can raise and lower.

When I did my 3 point on my C I made mounts on the frame rails just under the seat. I hate putting things in/on cast iron because of the problem you ran into. Plus haveing them up that high I get better lift and I can leave the draw bar on it also.
