We have just restored an Allis Chalmers WD. We are having trouble finding a 6 volt battery that will fit in the battery box. The total height needs to be less than 8 1/2 inches, the length needs to be 9 inches or less and the width 7 inches or less. If anyone knows where I could purchase a battery that would fit in the original box I would appreciate it. My son does not want to convert it to 12 volt or modify the battery box.

We sell the Deka "901" battery to our local AC customers. Fits" in nice and is high in CCA"s for a 6V battery. We don"t ship batteries, but you should be able to find a Deka dealer near you. Go in an ask for the "901".

Mat,
My Allis has a group 1 battery in it.
575 CCA
UPC code: 7 21112 55753 3
I've got a thin piece of plastic on top of the battery because it sets so close to the top of the case. I was afraid any type of movement might short something out, let alone any corrosion. The newer batteries must be a little taller than the old types. I don't remember it setting this close years ago with the older ones. (time does play tricks though)
Good luck.

Original battery was group 1. They originally came in 13 plates per cell(80AmpHours), 14 plate(100 AH), and 15 plate (120AH). Don"t know what measure they use these days, but go for the most powerful you can find, it will start better.

If I remember right all 6 Volt Allis Farm equipment used a Group 2 6 Volt battery. If it is not a Group 2 it is Group 1.

That would be great if you had the battery information. We don't have a farm and Fleet store in this area, but maybe I could contact them and get one that way. Thanks
