B wristpin offset?

I installed the first piston/rod assembly in my B engine (no shims yet) and noticed something. I had carefully centered the wristpin and rod before installing...and with the rod on the crank the upper end of the rod is slightly off center about 1/8". The lower end has the offset away from the main bearing as the book says. The rod is not bent and turns smoothly when I rotate the crank. My concern is that the wrist pin is off to one side although not rubbing the cylinder. Any thoughts?

That is about right. Just make sure you do have clearance on both sides of the rod on the crankshaft. It does not need to be rubbing tight on either side of the rod.

Looks like maybe the light in my shop was playing tricks on me last night. Rotated the crank and the rod stays pretty much centered. Lesson? Shim and torque first, have good lighting and a little faith in the parts!
