I am replacing the PTO and Belt Pulley shaft oil seals on my 1944 Allis Model C. The PTO shaft is 1-1/8" and has a "oil return groove" I have not removed the belt pulley shaft seal, but assume it may be the same. Does any one have the part numbers for these seals. Read some where about a leather style seal was neccessary for the 'oil return groove' shafts. Thanks.

Rod: I don't mean to cause a problem here, however I think you may have two numbers transposed on that pulley seal. You said cr13685 and I think you meant 13865. I hope I havn't confussed anyone but this needs to be double checked. Dave.

Hi Dave,

You're not causing a problem. You are correct. I checked my website and that reference is the proper CR13865. When I made my post, I incorrectly typed that as CR13685. My mistake. Thank you for bringing that up. I would hate for anyone to purchase a seal on my say so and find it wasn't the right one. My apologies to all readers.

Rod

Hello,

On my '42B with a 1-1/8" pto shaft I was able to use a rubber lip seal (National #450162) even though the shaft had the spiral groove. I was able to position the seal such that the sealing point of the rubber lip was located just outside the end of the groove. I couldn't do that with the belt pulley seal where the shaft also had the groove. For that I used a speedi-sleeve and a rubber lip seal. You can see how I installed those here. The seal is Chicago Rawhide #13685 and the speedi-sleeve is Chicago Rawhide #99138.

I stopped at my local AGCO dealer and ask for PTO seal Allis Chalmers P/N 206538. The AGCO P/N is 70206538 (he had it in stock). Turned out to be a National Seal 450162. Also asked about Allis Chalmers P/N 207993 (oil groove belt pulley seal). His AGCO P/N is now 7022450 - Parts book indicated use for 'oil groove shaft'. He had that in stock also - in the package was National Seal 450444S60 - the rubber inside is very wide (about .375" when flatten out). Seal has metal case on both sides and is over 1/2 wide. Same ID and Bore as #13865 seal you mention. I am going to install w/o speedi-sleeve and see how it works out. Thanks for the input.
