all 3 of my ac a wd wd45 and a D17 all have the exhaust ports burnt out aroundthe manifolds. the ports are eroded there as well. what causes this and how to correct it? thanks in advance!

mine seems to erode the heads and the replace ment gaskets seem to be made too small to fit over the exhaust manifolds ports.i think that is the propper word. .ive tried eom and after market. they seem to be made by the same people and all the same size. i've had to beat the metal part of the gasket out to fit. thanks to all who replied or will reply. =)

When I install a manifold on a WC, WD, etc, I like to rub "High-Temp" gasket maker into the asbestos rings... It holds the rings and metal cups in place on the manifold during assembly and seem to help them last longer..AND, it is Orange, too..!!

Time and normal wear and tear. Gaskets are normal wear items. When replacing them, you might need to get the manifold planed. That is the simplest. If the head itself is pitted, you need to get that planed as well. Gaskets can fill up only so much worn space. If they are not replaced in a timely manner, they wear out the base metal. Then the repair costs more. Nothing fixes itself.
