I have a 1953 Allis WD gas motor. I live in Topeka, KS and we have all four seasons. I'm looking for a one weight oil to use all year round. Would 10W30 be acceptable for year-round usage? If not, what weight of oil would you recommend? Manual says SAE 10W below 10 degrees F to SAE 40 above 90 degrees F. Thank you AC lovers!

I run 15-40 here in northern illinois all year round. Like old says, you just let it warm up before you put it to work, just like you should with any weight oil.

10W30 is not too thin unless the motor is worn out. i use 10w30 in all 4 of my tractors, lawn mower, kids mustang, old truck and wifes 2002 explorer.

My self I only run stright weight oils in all my machines. I use 30W in the winter and yes I'm not all that far from you either so yes it does well. Now it you want to run a multi weight oil I would go with a 15W-40 or 15W-50. All the tractors I use in the wniter I just let them run 10-15 minutes before I start working them and that should be done any how
