I read somewhere where you could hook a hydraulic hose from the drain of the 2 resevoirs and they will stay equal. Is this true and does it work?"

I think they would, as long as the bottom of the reservoirs are level with each other. My semi tractor has fuel tanks on each side of the truck, with a hose connected to the bottom of each tank and they stay even, unless I park on a hill, then the low side has more fuel. Should work the same with your tractor. Down side would be hooking the line on something and tearing it off, would lose a lot of oil.
