I purchased a Allis Chalmers C from a man that I went to coffee with then about a week later he passed away and I thought it would be a nice way to remember him if I restored the tractor and made a name plate in his memmory. I was wondering if the Van Sickle #453 71 paint would be close to the recommended paint for a 1941 AC C. I am mostly Farmall and don"t know that much about AC. I know they had different paint colors for different years. If this isn"t the color can you AC guys help me out. I have about 45 tractors Farmalls ACs JD and Oliver and this will be my first time restoring one. Thank you

I'm going to defer this one to steve(Ill) he just did a reply on this forum to a similar question about a 1944 C and I can tell he's done his homework too many details to be pushin bull. CT

Ditto on the post from steve(ill). PPG 60080 is the match for Persian Orange #1 in PPG automotive paints. You will pay more up front, but you will be much happier with the results, and the paint will hold up over time. If you want to see what a C looks like with PPG 60080, go to my website below and click on "Projects". Our local NAPA store carries PPG. Best of luck with your restoration.

there are many hardware store or farm store paints that are close in color. the ACCEPTED true color for the Allis prior to 1959 is Pursian Orange #1 . If you go to the local Auto Body shop repair/ paint and ask to see a color chip for PPG 60080 - that is the ACCEPTED true color. The automotive paint is quite a bit more expensive, but is oil and gas resistant and holds the color many years longer. If you dont use the PPG, you can atleast get a good color match from the chip.

What serial number is your C? I have a 41 C also and the serial number is 552. The original persian orange is the original paint for the C. I dont know about the Van Sickle #453 71 paint code but there will be someone who can tell you.
