Hi, Ive got an AC 170 that leaks a great amount of oil from the pto seal area. Im just curious to see how difficult it would be to replace the seal myself. Ive never done it before and I'm a novice mechanic. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Nick,

I just replaced this seal over the summer and it is very easy and I"m no mechanic. I got the seal at a NAPA after getting the part number from an AGCO dealer who didn"t have the seal. I don"t have the part number at hand though but any AGCO dealer will be able to find it for you. Basically you"ll just loosen the three bolts and pull the plate off with the seal in it. If you park on a down slope you won"t loose any oil otherwise it will come out rapidly. I had to beat the old seal out with a hammer and screw driver. I put the new seal in by lightly tapping around the edge with a hammer. Once the new seal is in the plate just replace it on the tractor and you should be good to go. Very easy to do.
