Roughly how many hours does it take to remove a pto idler gear with a missing tooth and replace with a good used or new one? What would be a reasonable price to have this repaired?

It can be done with out spliting tractor. You pull hyd pump drop pto case off bottom need to inspect lower gears any way. The shaft the gear is on will slide forward enough to get gear off, after removeing a snap ring on the front I think is where it is.

we replaced one in our wd 2 years ago, seems a new gear was in the 3-4 hundred range, we had a parts wd so that cost did not come into play. it took my dad and i about 8 hours to split, replace the gear and put the tractor back together. we had ideal situation however with the split stands and an equiped shop. cost will depend on whom you have do the work. perhaps 4-8 hundred depending on how knowledgable they are. just a guess. good luck
