Guys,I have a few questions. Where do I get the right color orange to repaint my C and what do I ask for. I have the sprayer so will a gal.do? Are the back rims gray? if so, what color or number gray. Is there any other colors on a 1940 C if so where? Last, can you recommend a place to order the stickers from? Thanks for your time.

I used the Omni single stage paint on my 41 C many years and it spent many years out in the elements and the paint is faded but has held up very well.

Paint: Allis Chalmers Persion Orange (#1)
Rims: Chrome
Stickers: For a 1940 C the correct Allis Chalmers for the hood should be in blue lettering with the long A and long S. Also, DO NOT PUT THE "C" ON THE GRILL. This was NOT original. The "C" was and aftermarket not available until the 1950's and was NOT original.

DO NOT just order a sticker kit for a "C" as it will have the wrong Allis Chalmers for the hood. Usually, the WC sticker package has the long A and S in blue lettering. You can then buy the "C" package and use the other stickers.

Good luck!
Joe

Yes there were sevral A-C oranges, actualy 3. Collectors now call them persian 1 and 2 and the last one is "corperate" each one having more red than the prior. Your C would be persian #1 but don"t expect anyone at a paint store to have a clue when you ask for Allis Persian #1 unless the counter person happens to be an Allis man. All of the cheap implement enamals for sale around here are the #2 shade or redder more like corperate. I quit using the cheapo stuff but when I did I found the Kabota orange (TSC) was one heck of a lot closer to the right color than what they sell for A-C. If you have a PPG Ditzler suppier near by you might check out the OMNI line. It is by far better quality paint than the cheapo stuff and also by far easier to apply right. The correct part number for persian 1 paint in PPG Omni is MTK60080 for urethane and MAE60080 for enamel. As Old said the entire tractor is orange save the rear rims which were galvanized originaly. Here is our WD painted with Omni, our B painted with TSC Kabota orange and our 66 A-C combine with original paint.

Oops forgot the decals. You can get decals from this site, most Farm Fleet type stores or people who are fanatical about having everything "correct" get them from Lyle Whacker

The paint is persain orange. They also make a presain orange 2 but its for the newer tractors and is wrong for a C. A gallion will probably do you just fine since thats about what I used on my WC Speed patrol which is pictured in my web site. Most people paint the rims with the alimuim paint or as its called around here jew chrome. You should be able to get the paint from this web site and or an AGCO dealer or valuebilt
