I was trying to time this tractor yesterday. I could easily find the two straight lines for the crankshaft and the camshaft. I could also find the round circle for timing the camshaft to the governor and magneto drive gear. However, the problem is that there is no timing mark visible on the governor and magneto drive gear at all. I looked over every tooth on it a couple of times and couldn't find anything. I did find an X but that wasn't on any of the tooths. It was down inside the gear under the govenor weights but it is hard to tell if that is the timing mark because there should be a circle mark on one of the tooths. Is there anyway to verify the timing of the governor gear without having a timing mark?

This picture shows the timing marks. If you have the cam timed to the crankshaft and truly can not find the timing circle on the governor gear just make sure the drive groove for the magneto is horizontal.

Does it matter at all which way it goes on as long as it is horizontal or is it possible to be 180 degrees off or not?
