D14 muffler installation?

Howdy boys. Can anyone tell me how a muffler is supposed to go on the D14 manifold? I bought a new muffler, Stanley. It has a simple manifold end - just the round pipe with a slot in it. How is rainwater kept out as I can see no way the thing seals up - the muffler goes INSIDE the manifold opening. My I&T shop manual does not deal with mufflers and I am still waiting to get an operators manual but doubt it tells either. Thanks for any info on how the muffler attaches to the manifold and how rain is kept out. Thanks again, Joe.

the d14 muffler is the same as the ca muffler. it has a mounting flange that drops down the side of the manifold and is secured with 2 bolts into the manifold. also has a lip all the way around the muffler so water cant enter the manifold. sounds like you bought a generic muffler. Bob
