I have a '39 b and its getting to the piont where its gonna need rings / engine rebuild.


I was gonna keep it stock and port the head somewhat. - simple mods to say the least.

How hard would it be to hand start if I put a big bore kit in it? Its not gonna be converted to elctric start either.

As it is right now the tractor can sit for about a year and will start with one tug on the crank.

It will hand crank fine with just the 3 7/16 over bore kit. If you take over .100 off the head it starts to get a little stiff to pop over top dead center by hand. A Stout young man should not have a problem. An old duffer like me might be a different story. (:^D

I wasnt thinking of going that much for shaving the head. I want this tractor to start easy even in the winter if need be. Might be young and all but I dont wanna race tractor (lol)

Whats the comp ratio with the big bore pistons?

the standaard compression is about 6 to 1 so takeing off the head will rais it to 8 or 9 to 1. might be a little hard to crank by hand, but good on a starter tractor. standrd overbore is 3-7/17. any more thatn that, you are on your own with "making it fit".

My 41 C is electric start but I sure wish I had a hand crank for it when the battery is low.
