I've got two D17s, a Series III and an early production Series I. The Series III is in great shape, lots of work done on it by someone else, but the engine is frozen. (A project for another day.) The cable for the tach on the Series III mounts to the distributor drive/governor. I assume this is correct and it works, but since the engine won't turn, I don't know for sure.My question is about the Series I, which is running. There is no port on the distributor drive/governor assembly for the tach cable to screw into. It just has a blank plug. Since I have owned this tractor, the tach drive has never been connected. I don't use this tractor for work that requires knowing my PTO rpms, so I never bothered with it. I have to admit, though, that not having this hooked up has been eating away at my mind. Something about tying up loose ends.... So, here's my question. Where does this cable mount? It is long enough to reach the rear end of the distributor drive/governor and seems to want to run up that side of the engine. I've looked for any unused ports which look like the tach cable might mount to it, but have come up empty. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance. Christopher
