I am trying to remove the right side steering clutch pack from the tractor. I have a service manual to go by, and everything has went fine except when I try to lift it out. I can raise it about an inch or two but then it seems like it gets snagged on something and won't come up any higher. I've tried putting the steering clutch lever in different positions to move the yoke but it doesn't help. Any ideas?

HI I dismantle many hd6 for parts and some time I haved to cut the stering cluch drum and the plate with fire because the big nut was loose on the bevel shaft hub drive or the throwout finger want back an off ,let me know .sorry for my bad writing.

You need to push the center part of the steering clutch deeper into the steering clutch drum. Try using a long tank bar. The clutches may have rust on them or the drum may be rusty where the fingers of the discs slide into them. This a common problem for a machine that has sat idle for a while. If the bar doesn't work, get a large bolt and a deep nut. put one on each side of the clutch, you'll have to measure carefully, as you will thread the nut in to the ends of the bolt threads. put the bolt against the steering clutch inner housing and the final drive case, then back the nuts off the bolt, actually pressing the inner part of the steering clutch deeper into the steering clutch drum.
