Iam going to look at a AC manure spreader that spreads from the front. Till now I have never heard of this arangement. Could anyone tell me anything about this machine, and it Model # and years it was made.

I hauled hundreds of loads of manure with one of these. It is a 110 model. They were a very good spreader but on the small side. They are still in demand for bedding strawberrys with straw in the fall. Only 1500 made from 1956 to 1960

If I remember right, they said that it would load itself if you took out the back gate, started the PTO and, backed into a pile.

This is actually a design with some merit. The advantage is that the load is always putting weight on the tractor drawbar increasing tractor traction. Conventional designs shift the weight from the spreader wheels and the tractor to totally spreader. The disadvange is pretty obvious - really have to watch wind direction!

Another case where AC was ahead of their time. Many of the big modern spreaders are side unload now.

Allis Chalmers encouraged the dealers to stand behind their products, the dealers refused to stand behind their manure spreaders, so this was the compromise.

It looks like an Allis Chalmers 110 spreader. Made from 1956-1960.
