Okay heres the deal n its a makin me nervous. The clutch on my D 15 Allis has always been fine, smooth action n never slipped although it never felt like it was new over strong..... Sooooo one day last week I kinda got stuck and did a lot of the natural rockin n jackin, although I never smelled any hot clutch or ever slipped her too much I didnt think, just worked her a lot. Buuuuuttttt ttttt now instead of smelling or slipping as one might think, IT SIMPLY DOESNT DISENGAGE vey much (grinds the gears to try n shift). Unfortunately theres no pedal throw stop or clutch rod length adjustments I can see, but it sorta "feels like" maybe if the rod was longer or pedal stop increased 1/2 inch she may disengage properly. If so I can jury rig a fix fairly easy (longer rod or more pedal travel) but just not sure if that will cure it or if I bent the forks or what happened.

WHY WONT SHE FULLY DISENAGE SINCE I WAS STUCK N HOW CAN I FIX OR ADJUST IT short of splititng her n a new clutch grrrrr rrrrr..... .. It holds, it just isnt disengaging far enough

A nervous John T

My buddy Henry crawled under it this afternoon as I jacked the clutch pedal n we found the problem ITS NUTTIN A NEW CLUTCH N SPLITTING THE OLD GIRL IN HALF N MONEY WONT FIX GRRRRR RRRRR

You know those 3 pivot/lever arms that do the actual clutch pushing, welllll lllll one had its pivot pin broke off so when you push the pedal it was only pushing the clutch back on one side n it never could really release. Im ordering a clutch n presure plate n throw out n pilot bearing first thing in AM n were gonna remove the loader n pull her in the shop n split her open tomorrow probably before noon. I gotta move the daughter home from Ball State University on Saturday. NO REST FOR THE WICKED

Oh well, such is the farm n old iron, as Jimmy Buffett says, "If you ever wonder why you ride the carousel, you do it for the stories you can tell..... ..... .If it all blows up n goes to h ----, think of all the stories you can tell" And from the Godfather Part II "This is the life we have chosen"

Thanks gang

Yep a preassure plate that doesn't put the preassure in all the right places sure can mess up a working or none working clutch fast. I guess you got a heavy foot one time to many when you got stuck and stomped the clutch down to hard one 2 many times. Isn't haveing this old stuff fun LOL

Well at least if it has a hand clutch you can stil use it just not as well as haveing the foot clutch. But thats a model I know just enough about to get my self in trouble with. I have never even sat on one yet but the ways things go here there will be the day then I may have to ask you questions LOL

John: It appears you can adjust the pedal by removing the rod and turning it to adjust it. The nut is in the forks in the bell housing. Unfortunitly that probably won't cure it. Its not a hard split to put a clutch in. Other than this how are you doing doun in Harrodsburg. Jim

Yo Jim,

Things are pretty good in the Kirksville and Harrodsburg communities, still get my gas deliverd by Mike at FB and miss our old buddy Ed.

Thanks for the adjusting info, I will DEFINITELY TRY THAT but Im afraid its like Old n others said a disk is stuck or peeled off or theres a rivet problem from when it got overworked n maybe too hot. Im taking it to my buddy Henrys today but gonna call NAPA n look for a clutch if needed.

I forget where youre located now, Illinois or up North of us??? e mail me again n lemme know

I just looked again, it dont seem like it needs more rod length or pedal throw, it (the rod) seems to dead stop up against something firm inside (maybe forks got bent???) the clutch cuz theres nuttin stopping the pedal from going further, its like the rod goes so far n she dead stops firm cuz of something inside????? ? i,e, I dotn think more rod length would do nuttin either, it goes so far n stopsssss s

You may have peeled the disc off or broke a few rivits on the disc. Either one would cause that problem and if so the only way to fix it would be a new clutch. You might be able to pull the starter and look in but not sure if you could see it or not.
