7000 water pump ?

Took the hose that runs to the heater and put on a clear test hose.
The engine will not push coolant any higher than the top of the radiator.

So I guess in short my water pump flow is zero.
Anything else I should check first?

I have changed my water pumps but it is always because of a leak, never seen one that didn't flow.

Again, thanks for the help.

Rick

My 7000 has a valve on the top of the filter housing. Make sure that it on it it is plumbed through that. I saw where you said something about the heater hoses to the core running through that. Also, did you check to see if there is an obstruction in the heater hoses or valve or core? Another thing is does the engine warm up (should be 190 - 195 degrees). Good luck

Hurst,
The valve is working good and plumbed right. Checked all hoses/core and valve, no obstuctions.

I am having problems getting it up to temperature. Had the radiator opening blocked, ran it for over an hour and still not "hot". Didnt have a gauge on it, but I could grab the radiator hose and stick my finger in the coolant in the radiator and it wouldnt burn, so maybe 120F.
It was 18F yesterday, so that doesnt help.

Thanks,
Rick

It sounds like the thermostat is stuck open. Without a load it will run cold and if you really loaded it down for a long enough time it would get hot because the coolant won't stay in the radiator long enough to cool. I would think the water pump would give priority to the engines flow over the cabs heater, so that would probably be while. I'll second Dr Allis' response on the allis board, replace the thermostat and the gasket and see if it works bretter that way. It does have to be driven atleast to get to operating temp without a radiator cover on my 7000. A thing I was told to be careful about is that the area covered must be even because otherwise only certain parts of the fan will hit air, which can cause the fan to break. Good luck with it.

Thanks Hurst.

I will be looking at that tonight. Slowly but surely I am getting closer.
