Just picked a "new" to me 1976 7000.

I cant get the heat to come on. Checked hoses, no heat on them. I'm assuming the contoller in the cab is hooked to the valve that controls coolant flow.

Anything I need to take note of during disassembly. Service manual is on the way, but I want to get started.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Might already have a manual shutoff valve near the engine. If it's new to you- might have been shut off last spring by the previous owner. Also check if the cab knob actually moves the heat control valve.

that valve can cause problems but check the fluid level some times an air pocket gets in the line and takes a while to work out. if you drain the coolant it would be a good time to put a manual valve at the engine so you can make sure it is shut off in summer or the ac will not keep up. i have seen a couple times where the waterpump impeller was a litle far away

 Update ?!?!? in reply to 856puller, 12-06-2006 14:07:14
Control valve and cable work great. Checked heater core - not plugged. I did find one hose was pinched between the cab support and the roof. Figured that was it...

Warmed up tractor high idle. Hyd and engine oil good and warm, coolant warm, but not too hot to touch. Still no heat.

Noticed upper radiator hose was warm. But the coolant filter lines were cold as was filter itself. And of course heater lines were cold.

The heater and the filter come off the same tee right before the lower rad hose goes in the block. They both return at the thermostat. Should one flow into the other versus two separate runs?

Seems like the two runs (heater and filter) are not flowing, is this possible.

Thanks again,
Rick
