have the same problem with my d19. after removing the cover i found out it had a bad pinion bearing and a couple teeth broke off the pinion gear. i have found several used sets for 300 to $400. atis salvage yard list or www.adeptr.com/agyards is a good place to start.

David, Hope its something simple. Might chech and see if the spin out rims are locked down good to the rims. If loose they can make a popping or a banging type sound. If no luck there I might try getting the rear tires off the ground and look for slop in the final drive area. Then might pull the shifter plate and take a look or the pto housing and see whats going on. Dale
